Chandrika suddenly leaves to Britain

Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumarathunga left for Britain last night, amidst rising Political tensions in the country.
Kumarathunga a key ally of President Maithripala Sirisena was reported to have been unhappy over the recent political developments.
However, the statement issued by the office of the former President said that the visit was pre- arranged in order to attend an “important family event”.
The statement said that Kumarathunga would “clarify her position on the present political situation upon her return”.
In the most recent development, Kumarathunga's opposition to the nomination of Prasanna Ranathunga was rebuked. Ranathunga signed his nomination papers earlier in the day
