President denies SLFP senior members request

President Maithripala Sirisena denies request made by the SriLanka Freedom Party senior members on requesting to appoint them from national list.

This meeting organised at minister Raajitha Senaratne’s residence and chaired by the president Maithripala Sirisena on Tuesday. SriLanka Freedom Party general secretary Anura Priyadharshana Yapa, United Peoples Freedom Alliance general secretary Susil Premajayantha , opposition leader Nimal Siripala Desilva, former ministers Dallas Allahaperuma and Dilan Perera requested to appoint them as national list candidate. Responding to this request president went on to say, If Anura Priyadharshana Yapa and Susil Premajayantha believe on victory they should contest in the election. Furthermore Nimal Siripala Desilva, Dilan Perera and Dallas Allahaperuma should contest in their own districts and need to bring glory to the party. These SLFP senior members are fear to face the general election and request president to nominate them as national list candidates. However president’s this decision has made to contest in their own districts, Sinhala website reports.
